Lipotec

Lipotec is a privately owned company founded in 1989 by Dr José María García and Dr Antonio Parente. The company started as a small operation located at the Local Development Agency of Barcelona City Council, with strong links to both academia and the pharmaceutical industry. These links have been responsible for the innovative spirit of the company from its origins, and are reflected by our staff, a highly trained and skilled team including Ph.Ds, science graduates, and qualified technicians.

After only 5 years the company relocated to larger facilities in the adjoining city of Hospitalet de Llobregat. Ten years later the sustained success and growth drove Lipotec to its current location in Gavà, close to Barcelona airport.

The company moved at the end of 2002 to this new facility specially designed and built to accomodate all the administrative, research and manufacturing areas. Works to enlarge the facility to twice its current size started at the end of 2006.

The company’s core business was originally built around two technology platforms: peptides and delivery systems. The Cosmetic division was dedicated to encapsulation and delivery systems for cosmetics, especially millicapsules and liposomes, while the Peptide division specialised in the synthesis and purification of peptides for pharmaceutical applications.

In recent years, our expertise in peptides has been incorporated as a technology platform into the cosmetic operation and peptides are currently one of our most active product lines for cosmetics. This has enabled Lipotec to become one of the leading suppliers of cosmetic active ingredients in the world.

Lipotec is an ISO 9001 certified company since July 1999, and is continuously updating its quality certifications which include most areas in the company, from R&D to production.
