The Group

The Lipotec Group is a privately owned group founded in 1987 around our expertise in two core technologies: delivery systems and peptides. The innovative application of these technologies has driven the growth of the group and is currently channeled through 4 independent divisions structured into 5 diferent companies:
Lipotec researches, designs and produces advanced active ingredients for cosmetics, encapsulated actives and liposomal formulas.
BCN Peptides deals with the research, design and synthesis of cGMP peptides as APIs.
Diverdrugs is a research company, specialised in combinatorial chemistry, solid phase synthesis and high throughput screening that feeds projects to other companies in the group.
Lipofoods designs and produces food ingredients and encapsulated supplements for the food industry.
GP Pharm designs, develops and produces injectable drugs for oncology and new injectable delivery systems for the administration of drugs.

The Lipotec Group employs around 200 highly skilled and specialised staff, including a high percentage of PhDs and Graduates. The group operates in state-of-the-art facilities in Gavà and Sant Quintí de Mediona, located in the Barcelona region and opened in 2003 and 2006, respectively. Both facilities integrate independent centres for research and development, design, production and quality control.

Since the beginning of its operation in 1988-1989, the Lipotec Group has based its strategy in 4 strong points:
Excellence and Quality: Lipotec is ISO9001 certified since 1999 and is regularly re-certified approximately every 3 years; BCN Peptides follows GMP ICH Q7a manufacturing procedures, has been awarded several certificates of suitability from the EP and has passed EDQM and FDA audits; GP Pharm’s facility has been designed and built to be GMP compliant.
R&D innovation: as proved by the group’s high patent output and the large reinvestment of profits into R&D.
International expansion: exports account for more than 80% of the group’s turnover and we are present in more than 50 countries worldwide.
Focused platform technologies: the group has focused its research activity on two main areas of expertise, delivery systems and peptides, and has applied these technologies to the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, veterinary and food industries.
