Bronze for REPROAGE™ peptide at the ITEHPEC Innovation Awards
The ceremony was held on September 20th in Sâo Paulo, during the cocktail party co-organized with the in-cosmetics® Latin America tradeshow.
This award is an initiative of the Institute of Technology and Studies for Cosmetics, Toiletries and Fragrances - ITEHPEC - created by the Brazilian Association of the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Industry (ABIHPEC).
Inspired by epigenetics, a growing trend nowadays in the beauty market, REPROAGE™ peptide, is intended to reprogram epidermal cells to restore the regenerative potential of the skin, which diminishes with age. The innovative ingredient acts by reducing the levels of miR-145, an epigenetic factor that is involved in the control of stem cell fate.
The main benefits of the peptide
For the manufacturers, the active ingredient introduces the idea of cell reprogramming, not extended in the cosmetics field yet. The intensive research of this concept in the field of regenerative medicine can now offer immense potential for skin care product development.
For the consumers, REPROAGE™ peptide can be seen as a new way to rejuvenate the skin as the cellular reprogramming visually translates into increased luminosity and smoothness reducing the externally perceived age of the volunteers that took part in the clinical study.
The two assays, performed using 2% peptide solution twice a day during 56 days, showed a general improvement in skin complexion and more radiance with 1.5% increase in luminance. In addition, a rejuvenated skin with epidermal self-renewal activity increased to the level of a skin 17 years younger was observed in the 50-55 years old volunteers as well as up to 41.3% decrease in skin roughness.
The bronze received in Brazil is the second acknowledgement that the product receives since its launch less than 1 year ago. " the Innovation Zone Best New Active (Bronze)”was granted in April during the last edition of in-cosmetics® Global in London.
